Housing

Right now, thousands of men, women and children throughout Greater New York aren’t sure if they’ll have a bed to sleep in tomorrow. Nothing can cause more anguish than worrying whether or not you’ll have a safe place to stay. Everyone deserves a place to lay their head at night, and The Salvation Army works with the New York City Department of Homeless Services to ensure that.

“It gave us a sense of hope… It gave us a sense of accomplishment that we could save our money over a couple months and then venture back on our own.”

— Christopher Words, father of three whose family temporarily stayed in a transitional shelter at The Salvation Army of Milwaukee

Emergency Shelter

Thousands of New Yorkers suddenly find themselves without a home every day, with nowhere — and no one — to turn to.

If you find yourself in an unexpected situation, our emergency shelter facilities are here for you. In cases where a nearby Salvation Army location is unable to provide emergency shelter, we will refer you to a partner facility that can.

Transitional Housing

Many New Yorkers may find themselves in transition between different stages of their lives. Finding somewhere to live is an expense that you may be unable to meet during these difficult periods. Thankfully, The Salvation Army is here to help.

Regardless of your circumstances, we want to offer a temporary living space for you and your family, so that you may move from one chapter of your life to the next without the worry of homelessness hanging over your head.

Permanent Supportive Housing

There’s nothing more gratifying than having a place that you can call “home.” Whether you’re a senior, a veteran, homeless or otherwise, The Salvation Army here in Greater New York has permanent housing facilities for people of all situations.
