The 11th Annual Salvation Army Golf Outing
Humorist P.G. Wodehouse once quipped, “To find a man’s true character, play golf with him.” He meant that as a witty jab, of course, but you need not look any further than The Salvation Army’s 11th Annual Golf Outing to see the game bring out the best in men and women throughout our community. Last week, 80 golfers gathered at New York’s historic Paramount Country Club to raise funds in support of The Salvation Army’s youth programs in our area.
Spirits were high as participants teed off at the picturesque former home of Paramount Pictures. “It’s one thing to enjoy a great golf game,” says Mike Daly, CEO of the Outing’s Gold sponsor, Forester Capital, “but it’s more rewarding to know that the funds raised can be a source of support for The Salvation Army’s work in the Hudson Valley.”
The results exceeded all expectations. Through the generosity of the corporate and individual sponsorships, as well as contributions from the participants, more than $50,000 was raised in a single day!
Youth programs ranging from music, sports, after-school activities and camp programs will benefit from the money raised. Because of this event, disadvantaged boys and girls throughout Peekskill, Port Chester, Spring Valley, Tarrytown and White Plains can share experiences to which they otherwise wouldn’t have access.
We’d like to thank everyone that took part in the 11th Annual Golf Outing. Your kindness and compassion will contribute to the success of hundreds of children in Hudson Valley.
